Research & Campaigns
Citizens Advice is not just an advice agency. We collect evidence from our clients to highlight recurring problems and campaign for change.
The experience of Citizens Advice gives a unique, fresh insight into the problems facing UK citizens. Citizens Advice Tameside collects evidence of clients’ problems and uses this to campaign for changes in policies and services. We have a key role in speaking up for clients, raising issues brought into us, contributing to public debate and informing legislation.
Local Research
As part of the Tameside Inequalities Reference Group, Citizens Advice Tameside has been invited to undertake local research exploring people’s experiences dealing with debt in Tameside.
The aim of this survey is to help us to get a better understanding of people’s journeys through debt and debt advice in the borough.
If you’d like to tell us about your local experience please complete our Dealing with Debt survey.
This information will help local debt advice providers, including Citizens Advice Tameside and Tameside Council to improve our services.
This survey is commissioned by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council’s Inequalities Reference Group.
We can provide hard copies with pre-paid envelopes if required – please ask us, along with any questions around this research via our feedback form.
National Campaigns
Each local Citizens Advice office sends information about the problems brought to them (but not about their clients) to National Citizens Advice. Evidence is collated to help campaign officers identify national trends. Citizens Advice can then present evidence to policy makers by writing reports and submissions and participating in consultations to improve policies.
